Finding herself in the position of being unemployeddespite having two IT - related qualifications, Kim Palmer established On The Ball Computers - a business that initially focused on the sales and repair of hardware. Following her passion for training and development, Kim subsequently also established OTBC Training College which together with IT support and consulting forms the backbone of the business. The business conducts training in relation to 3 fully accredited IT - related qualifications, namely End User Computers (SAQA Qualification ID 61591), Technical Support (SAQA Qualification ID 24293), System Support (SAQA Qualification ID 48573). The company is therefore able to offer these qualifications to Learners. Through offering theses courses, the business strives to achieve its own vision of helping SOuth Africans to develop into IT knowledge - based society through the appropriate skills provision that will contribute to and enable economic growth. Subsequent to its beginnings, OTBC College has developed a strong record of innovation and service delivery excellence.

The business and Kim's effort have been acknowledge in various ways - notably in the receipt of the Editor's Award in the 2008 Cape Times KPMG Business Personality of the Year. The business is fully BBBEE compliant and is fully black-owned.
